This sudden announcement of a Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance US remake has drawn me back to my blog I deserted more than a year ago.

The report from Screen Daily is as followed:
Brian Tucker has been set to write the screenplay about two men who set out to avenge the deaths of their beloved women, only to discover that each killed the other’s lover and in the end only one can have his vengeance.

Okay for starters, who the fuck is Brian Tucker? But lets talk about the real problem at hand. The remake is about "two men who set out to avenge the deaths of their beloved women, only to discover that each killed the other’s lover." Really?!? Really?!? They are missing the whole point of the original. A father suffering over the murder of his only daughter by idiotic kidnappers. Damn Hollywood, man. Now I really wish they went ahead and remade Oldboy instead of tainting the better film in Park Chan Wook's repertoire. I swear.
